Damn, just received a great batch of Moth Drakula releases for my distro, and I've already listened to them all in one go. They're all fantastic!
I haven't been too familiar with Moth Drakula's output before, even though it's a long-standing project that's been active since the early 2000s, with recordings out on labels like Troniks and Chondritic Sounds, for example. It's a US duo consisting of Evan Packewicz and Jeff Witscher, both familiar from Roman Torment as well. Evan also runs Swampland label, which has released most of these Moth Drakula releases I have now available.
My session started with the Live Purgatory tapes I, II, and III. They are all truly great-sounding noise releases, all C20 I think. The first one was more towards cut-up noise and harsh noise in general, while the latter two were playing with a more bleak textural approach, and I think these are all new material recorded last year. Interesting, fairly dynamic noise that grabs attention with good dubs, what not to like. The split with Deathroes is also really nice.
The Final Nail CD was also a really good compilation of earlier stuff and I enjoyed it a lot. Another good one is the self-titled CD released by Misanthropic Agenda. It's a "forgotten" album from 2007 and, to my ears, the most hi-fi out of these albums I have in my hands, clocking only 22 minutes.
Moth Drakula releases are not available in the EU very often, so now is a good time to check these out
