The 'Liminal Archaeology' cassette series from Brownhill Mafia has been a big favorite here, and now we have their fourth release titled 'Uncle's Wedding.'
This is not harsh noise, but rather very mellow, droning, warm, and dreamy organ music. The label provides an excellent description of what's happening:
"The wedding march plays and the birds sing. You can smell the freshly cut birch trees and taste the sandwich cake. The guests, if there are any, are awfully quiet. Both the bride and the groom consent and thus the holy union is formed. Warm summer breeze blows over the fields and slowly the day passes, but the night has just begun… 32 minutes of air organ, synthesizer and concrete sounds." https://brownhillmafia.bandcamp.com/album/cassette-series
The Liminal Archaeology series has consistently offered a unique approach to its subjects. The artists involved have remained relatively anonymous, possibly changing between releases (not sure though). Each cassette arrives in a sealed envelope (like previous ones in the series), and what I particularly appreciate is that there is always something extra included with the release. This time, it's also very fitting for the theme 'Uncle's Wedding,' that immediately brought a smile to my face.
It's worth noting that only 50 copies of these have been made, so they're likely to sell out relatively fast.
