In 2023, chemiefaserwerk, pablo picco and the concept horse started sending sounds to one another and intervening on them. Only unspecific instructions were discussed as to how any of them were to work with the noises, what should be sent on, re-worked, changed. After a while, it became unclear exactly who did what, with whose sounds, why, when or where any “original” sounds had come from in the first place. Every now and then, a few written words accompanied the sonic bits being sent back and forth. At some point, a form that felt final appeared. METAPHYSICAL RETAIL was first spotted on an old road-side sign in rural upstate New York.
